Estimate how much one pip is worth for your position size and account currency.
Forex Pip Value CalculatorFormula
Pip value = Position size in lots × Units per standard lot × Pip size × Conversion rate
Use 100,000 units for one standard forex lot as an example. Confirm your instrument’s contract size with your provider.
Example calculations
These examples use a pip size of 0.0001 and a conversion rate of 1 because the quote currency and account currency are the same.
| Position size | Units per standard lot | Pip size | Estimated pip value |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1.00 lot | 100,000 | 0.0001 | 10 account-currency units |
| 0.10 lot | 100,000 | 0.0001 | 1 account-currency unit |
| 0.01 lot | 100,000 | 0.0001 | 0.10 account-currency units |
When the currencies differ
If the currency pair’s quote currency differs from your account currency, multiply by the conversion rate:
Conversion rate = account-currency value of 1 unit of the quote currency
For example, if 1 unit of the quote currency is worth 0.67 units of your account currency, use 0.67 as the conversion rate. Enter a current rate from a reliable source; this calculator does not fetch live exchange rates.
What to check
- Use the correct pip size. Many non-JPY forex pairs use 0.0001; many JPY pairs use 0.01.
- Check the instrument’s contract size and pip definition.
- Confirm the quote-to-account currency conversion rate.
- Gold, indices, and other CFDs may use different contract specifications.
