Forex Trading Cost Calculator

A forex trading cost calculator helps estimate known costs associated with a position. Depending on the instrument and account, costs may include spread, commission and overnight financing.

# Forex Trading Cost Calculator: Spread, Commission and Financing

## Formula

**Estimated trading cost = Spread cost + Commission + Known financing charges**

**Spread cost = Spread in pips × Pip value for your position**

If commission is charged per side:

**Round-trip commission = Commission per lot per side × Lot size × 2**

If your provider quotes a round-turn commission, use that figure directly and do not multiply it by two.

## Example estimate

Suppose a position is **0.20 lot**, its pip value is **USD 2 per pip**, the spread is **0.6 pips**, and commission is **USD 3.50 per lot per side**.

- Spread cost: 0.6 × USD 2 = **USD 1.20**
- Round-trip commission: USD 3.50 × 0.20 × 2 = **USD 1.40**
- Estimated cost before financing: **USD 2.60**

This is an example only. It does not represent a standard price or an offer from a provider.

## Costs to check

| Cost | Information to enter |
|---|---|
| Spread | Spread in pips or the difference between bid and ask |
| Commission | Per-lot, per-side or round-turn fee |
| Financing | Applicable rate, position size and holding period |
| Conversion | Currency rate if costs are charged in a different currency |

Actual costs can vary by instrument, account type, market conditions and provider. Check current terms before using an estimate. Avoid counting the spread twice if your own calculation already includes it.
